Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2, 2026 · Applies to the Voqua Chrome extension and voqua.app website.
1. Who we are
Voqua is a Chrome extension developed and operated by Tech & Sols. For privacy questions contact us at privacy@voqua.app.
2. What data we collect
We collect the absolute minimum to provide the service:
- Anonymized device identifier — a random UUID generated on first install, stored locally in your browser. Before being sent to our server it is hashed with SHA-256, so we never know who you are or what device you have.
- Daily usage counters — how many translations, voice note transcriptions, and reply suggestions you have made today. Used only to enforce free-tier rate limits.
- License key — if you purchase a paid plan, you enter your Lemon Squeezy license key in the extension settings. We store it locally and send it to our server to verify your subscription tier.
3. What we do NOT collect or store
- Message content — text and audio sent for translation are processed and immediately discarded. They are never logged, saved to a database, or used for training AI models.
- Contact names or phone numbers — we do not read or transmit WhatsApp contact information.
- Your identity — no name, email address, IP address, or location is associated with your usage data.
- Conversation history — a short context window (last 5 messages) is sent with each translation request to improve accuracy. This context is processed and immediately discarded.
4. How AI processing works
Text and audio are sent over HTTPS to our server (hosted on Vercel). Our server forwards them to Google Gemini API (operated by Google DeepMind) for translation and transcription. Google's API terms prohibit using this data for model training without consent. After the API response is returned to your browser, the data is not retained on our server. You can review Google's API data usage policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
5. Cookies and local storage
The Voqua extension stores settings, usage counters, and your language preferences in chrome.storage.local (browser-local, never synced to a server). No third-party cookies are set. The voqua.app website does not use cookies.
6. Data retention
- Usage counters: stored for 7 days then automatically deleted.
- License key tier cache: stored for up to 25 hours then refreshed from Lemon Squeezy.
- No message content is retained at any point.
7. Third-party services
- Google Gemini API — AI translation and transcription. Privacy policy
- Vercel — server hosting. Privacy policy
- Supabase — license and usage persistence. Privacy policy
- Lemon Squeezy — payment processing. Privacy policy
8. Your rights
Because we do not collect personally identifiable information, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you have purchased a paid plan and wish to delete your license record from our database, email us at privacy@voqua.app with your license key and we will delete it within 5 business days.
9. Children
Voqua is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our data practices change and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of Voqua after changes constitutes acceptance.
